OUR CHINESE SCHOOL IN BEIJING

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

Our new school built in the traditional Chinese style is located inside the Imperial Ancestral Temple, now the Palace of Culture building in the Wen Hua Gong (Mandarin Palace). This is an enclosed space within the Imperial Palace with a discreet location but also nearby impressive buildings of the Forbidden City and ancient trees that harmonize a typical Chinese landscape.

This famous place in Beijing is undoubtedly the most beautiful and calm location in the capital.

Just a few minutes from the school is the Forbidden City, that is, the heart of Beijing. The Forbidden City was once the residence of Ming and Qing emperors and now, thanks to its perfect preservation, is considered a unique example of ancient architecture. The area surrounding the Forbidden City is a great place enjoy a pleasant walk.

Not far from the school is also the most famous shopping area of Beijing known as Wangfujing.

OUR PARTNER UNIVERSITY: The University of Beijing Language and Culture, was founded in the early 60s. It is located about 12 km north of the city center, in the university area. Year after year, thousands of students abroad, more than 100 different countries come to study at the University.

INSIDE OUR SCHOOL: We offer not only standard and intensive courses, but also the option of attending some classes in Chinese painting (including material) or even Tai Chi classes. These classes are tought by professional teachers and can be combined simultaneously with the Chinese courses.

Our school in Beijing offers the following services:

LEARNING MATERIAL: Our school has 12 classes and all our students are given a book on the first day of classes, to use with the course. Students can also buy or borrow books as well rent out material from the school library.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: The team of Tourism in Beijing are multilingual and available whenever you need, both in the classroom and in their free time. Our school Sprachcaffe Beijing is located in the middle of a large park. Thus, our students will enjoy long walks or reading quietly in one of the typical Chinese pavillions.

Enjoy our additional courses of Tai Chi in our school and learn the relaxation and meditation techniques that have survived centuries. Tai Chi is becoming a popular method for exercise in the East, consisting of movements for mental relaxation. After two classes of Tai Chi, the goal is to feel complete and a higher sense of well-being.

We also offer courses in Chinese painting with all the necessary materials for painting classes. This course is also a way to relax in your spare time while studying Chinese in Beijing, all of our teachers are native speakers and qualified, guaranteeing the ability to more successfully learn the language.

CHINESE COURSES IN BEIJING

In our school in Beijing we offer Chinese courses for all levels from absolute beginner to advanced. On the first day, you will take a test and will be placed in the level most suitable for you. The courses are held from Monday to Friday: educational material on loan will be given during class. There are no classes during holidays.

OUR TEACHERS: Our teachers are all native speakers, highly qualified and have an academic education. After the lessons, they are available to give advice and assistance on any problems with the language and to awnser questions about local cultural and sporting events. They may spend their free time with our guests and, of course, for students taking a business language course, they will provide special materials for class.

TEACHING METHOD: Our teaching method is based on the "principle of conversation" because the study of language should be aimed mainly at putting into practice the grammatical and lexical aspects of the language:

Grammar- vocabulary - exercises – activities

Reading - understanding texts - listening – writing

Conversation

LESSONS: The class is based essentially on the principle of conversation. This is achieved through intensive training in structured role-play, guided dialogs, audio-listening and reading cultural, social, and political essays and articles related to the host country.

CERTIFICATE: At the end of the course each student will receive a certificate attesting to the number of lessons taken and the language level achieved.

In this case, more emphasis is placed on learning, thus leaving less free time for extra curricular activities. Six daily lessons guarantee effective progress in a much shorter time.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION: One-to-one language training is the quickest and most intensive way to learn a language or to improve your language skills. The format of the lessons is totally determined by the needs and desires of the student. The hours of this course are flexible which makes it possible to book such a course together with another course option.

This course is also ideal as a tutoring or support course to focus on problem areas. You decide the number of daily lessons: two, four or six. All aspects of the language are taught in as short a time possible without being overly demanding.

ACADEMIC LANGUAGE COURSE: The Academic Term / Exam Preparation Course at Sprachcaffe / Language PLUS is structured similar to the Standard Language Course, however the goals and objectives are structured for long term study. Thus it is ideal for students who which to attain a more in-depth and continuous study of the language and also for those interested in sitting for any of the major language exams, such as the PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, TOEFL, DELE, DELF, DALF, CILS and DSH. The examination fees are not included in the course price and students have to pay extra for materials. Completing an Academic Term at Sprachcaffe / Language PLUS will help earn important qualifications and is perfect for those seeking the challenges and goals of meeting university entrance requirements. Spending several months abroad is the ideal way to completely immerse yourself in another language. SPRACHCAFFE BEIJING - ACCOMMODATION IN BEIJING

In Beijing there are three types of accommodation, from which you will have the option to choose that which suits you best depending on your needs. Through each of the options you will be able to interact with people, either with native, in the case of families, or with other students, as to be able to practice what was studied in class.

APARTMENT IN BEIJING

For those students who wish to take a longer lasting course, a minimum 12 weeks, it is possible to book from January 1, 2007 an apartment in the city of Beijing. The apartments are located in Beijing CBD, 30-40 minutes from school. It is advisable to take the Metro (Line 1, 8 stops) or bus 728. The last stop is called "Tian-An-Men-East," Exit A to the Ancestral Temple. The ticket price is ? 0.30 for subway and bus for ? 0.40. The apartments consist of:

• Single and double rooms
• Fully furnished
• Hall, 1 or 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen to share
• TV, refrigerator, washer, air conditioning / heating
• Cleaning service once a week

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION IN BEIJING

For those wishing a more private stay and more amenities, we offer rooms in 3 or 4 star hotels. The hotels are located next to the school and include:

• Spacious rooms and common rooms, cafe, restaurant and internet access
• Hotel**/Boarding House Accommodation in Beijing

The hotel is situated in the heart of Beijing, near the main shopping areas. Usually no more than 15-30 minutes by subway or on foot are necessary to get to school. The double room can only be used for two guests
