The school is a modern and friendly place to study, situated in a purpose built English centre. The EC Café serves a variety of drinks and meals and also has a large, cinema screen. We have planned and structured our English courses to make sure you reach your goals. By focusing on the four main skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) in our English courses, we guarantee that if you attend all your lessons, actively participate in class and complete the homework assignments set by your teacher; your English level will improve.

In the classroom our teachers will help you to maximise your potential, unlocking the your passive knowledge of English and activating it. ENGLISH COURSES AT EC LONDON
GENERAL ENGLISH: General English is our standard course which gives you a good solid foundation in all aspects of the English language. The course provides the essential structures and vocabulary you need, using a course book and supplementary materials, while giving you plenty of practice in all four language skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
With regular Speaking and Listening practice and new language input, the course is designed to improve your level and to maximise your ability to use all the English you know. You will have two teachers, one of whom will be your class teacher who will look after your academic progress throughout your stay.
INTENSIVE ENGLISH: 30 Lessons per week; 1 lesson = 45 mins / 10 lessons = 7.5 hrs / 20 lessons = 15 hrs / 30 lessons = 22.5hrs / 40 lessons = 30 hrs
Make the most of your time abroad with this fast track learning course. The Intensive English course is the same as our General English programme but with the advantage of two extra lessons in the afternoon (30 lessons per week). This gives you more study time, enabling you to progress and gain greater fluency and accuracy at a faster pace. Your teachers will guide your progress every step of the way.

If you want to gain entrance into an English speaking university, have a competitive edge when applying for a job, enhance your career or move to a different country, you need an internationally recognised qualification. Certification will prove you have the necessary standard of English language skills required by employers and universities.
We provide a number of Exam Preparation Courses which guarantee to improve your English and prepare you for your chosen examination. You will enjoy the highly structured course and our motivational teachers will guide your continual improvement through interesting lessons and topical discussions.
The primary focus of the course is to ensure that you attain or surpass the level of English skills you require to sit your chosen exam. The more time you dedicate to learning English, the more you will improve and therefore achieve your desired exam score. You will also receive exam preparation skills specific to your chosen exam, ensuring that you are 100% prepared on the day of your examination.
We know that every student is different, which is why we combine a structured course with a personal study plan, individual tutorials and a personal reading programme to ensure you maximise your personal potential. To thoroughly prepare for the exam we recommend a 10-13 week study period.

University Access: Studying at an English speaking university can open up a whole world of opportunities for your future. If you would like to embark on an undergraduate degree or post graduate course in an English speaking destination, EC's University Access Programme will provide you with the skills you need to achieve your goals and chosen degree.
The Course: Your English must be at the highest possible level if you want to study at an English speaking university. Without an advanced level of English, you will not achieve the results you are cable of.
Your choice of Exams: You can choose to sit for a Cambridge ESOL exam, IELTS or TOEFL tests to ensure your time spent perfecting your English is qualified by an internationally recognised exam. Preparing for exams also provides you with goals to strive for and more experience taking tests in English under strict academic conditions.
English For Academic Purposes: Your course will be dedicated to preparing you for life in an English speaking university. You will improve your English to an Advanced level, whilst also learning all the techniques needed to succeed in an English speaking university. Business English Mini Group course is designed to help you make maximum progress in a limited period. Study together with people from around the world in a small class of 6 people. The aim of this course is to focus on the language needed to conduct core professional skills such as communicating on the telephone confidently, participating effectively in meetings, making clear presentations, conducting negotiations and discussions, writing professional reports, emails and letters.
Together with your teacher you will discuss your English language learning priorities and the core professional skills you wish to focus on. Meeting people from a variety of professional backgrounds adds to the unique experience of this course.
Supplement with Personal Tuition and benefit from both group and private tuition by combining the Business English Mini Group with 10 or 20 Business English One-to-One lessons.(note: this option is only available in low season - 14th Sept to 14th June)
BUSINESS ENGLISH ONE-TO-ONE: Maximise your time with a course specifically created for you.
After discussing your language requirements with your teacher we will design a course unique to your requirements. This will include practising English language skills in the work context which are specific to your needs. You could choose to focus on a number of core professional skills or focus on a particular project. We encourage you to bring materials from your workplace in order to perfect your documents and presentations while you are with us.
Whatever your needs, this is the ideal course for making rapid progress in a limited period of time. You can choose to study 20, 30, 40 or 50 lessons per week.
Prices given on the right are based on 20 lessons per week.
SPECIALIST BUSINESS ENGLISH ONE-TO-ONE: EC can provide Specialised One-to-One Lessons specific to your profession, for example: English for Marketing, Accountancy, Human Resources, Advertising, Finance, Banking, Tourism and Law.
SEMI-INTENSIVE ENGLISH: The Semi-Intensive course gives you extra classes 2 days per week. The extra time in class helps to further consolidate your English knowledge, allowing you extra time to practice all skills.
Full Immersion
Full Immersion is our most intensive course designed for a one or two week duration. You will combine 40 One-to-One lessons in class with 15 hours out of class in the company of a teacher.
By means of an interview on the first day, the course is designed specifically for you. The out of classroom activities are included and are arranged to suit your interests. For example, if you are interested in finance you may wish to visit Lloyds of London when studying at EC London.
Each day you have lunch with a teacher. You will also have 2 accompanied activities and an excursion each week to maximise your exposure to English and provide ‘real life’ opportunities in which to practise and improve your English skills out of the classroom.
Throughout your course your progress will be monitored and recorded. At the end of your course you will receive a linguistic profile detailing your strengths, weaknesses, what you have covered, how you have developed, what you now need to do to consolidate your learning and how to improve further after you have returned home

London Homestay
This is the most popular type of accommodation for students of all ages. By living with a local family you will improve your English and learn all about British life and culture; you will enjoy both the comfort and security of home life. Many of our Homestay families have been hosting our students for several years.
Homestay Zone 1-2
Perfect for practising your English outside the class with real Londoners in a natural setting! Join their family to enjoy a unique cultural experience. You can choose to stay in London zones 1 and 2 (20-35 minutes from EC) and have some of the world's best attractions, shopping and nighlife right on your doorstep. Breakfast only or half board are available, it's your choice
Superior Homestay
Superior Homestays are located 20-60 minutes’ travel time from EC London. Wherever you are, you'll be close to something interesting. Enjoy all the comforts of home with all the benefits of living with a real London family. They'll make you feel very welcome and it's a great way for you to experience British culture while using your English in a natural way. Stay in a single bedroom with a private bathroom. Early booking early is a must to avoid disappointment. These wonderful accommodations go fast! You can choose between breakfast only or half board.
Homestay Zone 3-4
Use your English language skills outside the classroom by staying with a London family! Choosing to stay in London zones 3 and 4 (approx. 1 hour from EC) means you'll be in the quieter areas away from the crowded city centre streets, but still only a short underground ride to all the famous attractions of London. You can choose between breakfast only or half board.
London Superior Residence
All Superior Residences are located in Zone 1 close to EC London and many of the sights and attractions of London. This accommodation option comprises of single rooms some of which have a bathroom ensuite. Bed linen and other basic amenities are provided; however, you should bring your own towels. All superior residences are self-catering.
Clerkenwell
This Residence is ideally located in Zone 1's vibrant Clerkenwell. Conveniently, it's only a short walk to the supermarket and the fashionable Upper Street, St John Street and Exmouth Market where you can explore the trendy shops, bars, restaurants and shopping-centres that London has to offer. The nearest tube stations are Angel, Barbican, and Farringdon; all of which are only a 5 - 10 minute walk away from the residence and there are also regular buses.
The Residence is located within quick and easy access to EC London, the West End, The City , Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Oxford and Regent Street along with all of London’s tourist
St. James Park
Have the queen for a neighbour! Our (Zone 1) residence is close to Buckingham Palace. You will also be close to the Big Ben and, more importantly, EC London. Only 20 minutes away by bus, you will save money travelling to school as a they are both in Zone 1.The facilities of the residence include a lounge with television, a quiet study room, coin-operated laundry, a dining room and a large kitchen that students may use to prepare their evening meals. For your convenience, each room has a washbasin, television and telephone. Wi-Fi is available in the bedrooms and common room for a small charge. Students share a bathroom with, at most, 5 other students.
London Superior Summer Residence
Superior Summer Residences are located in Zone 1 close to EC London and many of the sights and attractions of London. This accommodation option comprises of single rooms some of which have a bathroom ensuite. Bed linen and other basic amenities are provided; however, you should bring your own towels. Southwark Residence

In the heart of London, Southwark Residence is located near Waterloo International Station (handy for trains to Paris) and near London Bridge. This is one of the most densely populated and multi-cultural areas in the capital. Surrounded by restaurants, pubs, cinemas and other top tourist attractions. So why not check out cutting edge contemporary art at the Tate Modern soak up some history at Shakespeare’s Globe, visit the Museums in Southwark or walk along the Southbank to see some of the capital's most spectacular architecture, all on the banks of the River Thames
Kings Cross
Available: 21st June – 19th September '09
With great transport link and very central, Kings Cross is a convenient and smart accommodation for those who like to be at the heart of it all. Usually accommodation for university students, Kings Cross allows EC students to stay here during the summer. The building is modern, clean, well maintained and well equipped. Rooms are arranged in cluster flats of five, six, or seven bedrooms. The kitchens are big and there is space in the rooms to study. Each room has its own en-suite shower, toilet and basin.
London Standard Residence
Located in zones 1, 2 and 3, our Standard Residences are close to underground stations, include a number of facilities, and are on a half board basis.
Muswell Hill
The Muswell Hill residence is located near Highgate Underground Station, in the vibrant, Edwardian, north London suburb of Muswell Hill. This is a very green area of London where you can find parks, gardens and it's always been a desirable place to live. In the area are leafy parks, cool shops, great restaurants and traditional pubs where students can enjoy a quieter but also rather diverse life.To get to the school, students take 1 bus and 1 underground train. The total journey time is approximately 40-45 minutes. Wi-Fi is available for a flat rate of £20 per person
London Student House
EC's Student House is located in a peaceful area in London and is only a ten minute walk from the underground station.
Willesden Green
This is the place for you if you want a quieter experience. Willesden Green Student House is located in a residential area. Wi-Fi is available at both student houses free of charge. The house is situated in zone 2 in North West London. Conveniently, there are a variety of supermarkets and shops nearby. There is also a cinema, a library, cafes, traditional British pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance from the accommodation |
